I am a grandfather who has an arched window in our bunkbed bedroom used for grandchildren to sleep in occassionally for sleepovers. My adult children want a way to make the room dark by blocking sunlight coming in. This archway fan shade is an inexpensive, attractive way to block light. The directions have lots of pictures, but are a little confusing (incomplete.). At first I cut 3/8 of an inch more in length than the measurements as stated in the directions. I put the fan up temporarily and discovered I need to cut more. I cut about an 1/8 inch more, but when I installed it, I discovered that I should have cut at least 1/2 inch. The problem is that the bottom of the fan, since compressed, requires more room. Once the fan tape is secured, it will be very difficult to remove without destroying this shade. With the shade being tight, it rubs on the inner area of the arch when not cut enough. This caues the fan to be difficult to spread out evenly without out distorting (wrinkling) the fan pleats. If the main pleats edge used velcro, I would have been able to cut the pleats more and get a better fit. – direction problems and choice of permanent tape – minus one star.

Works as described. It is meant for you to trim to custom fit your arch window which is cool and also a little tedious but the end result is worth it especially with summer on the way. Great inexpensive way to block the light out and reduce the heat.

Keeps the heat of the summer sun out. We live in SC where the summer heat is brutal. Sun comes right in our front window and makes the house extremely hot. This lets some light through but blocks the heat.

Like many modern homes, we had built in arch-windows. They are very stylish and attractive. However, they also bring in a tremendous amount of light. So, we began looking for shades that might fit the window. This would provide both privacy as well as a means to block some of that light.This set is very nice. They are very easy to install. Make sure that you measure both your window’s diameter (straight width) and radius (distance from bottom to top). Some arch windows are not quite so symmetric; so, you’ll want to order the correct size. Thankfully, these fit perfectly. As such, they are quite functional for your window and home.These are very high quality shade too. Consequently, they are a great value at this price point. The color is nice and they block most of the light quite well.
