I have a family member that turns 80 early next year, so we have slowly been collecting 80th birthday items for her 80th birthday surprise party. She likes candles and the Friectavy 80th Birthday Scented Candle was not only funny, it was practical, so it won’t just end up in the trash after the party.The candle comes in a brown glass jar, with a black metal screw on lid, and measures 2.8 inches wide and 3.7 inches high. Inside is 9 ounces of hand poured, white soy wax with a cotton wick. The Amazon ad states the candle will burn for 45 hours, while the box says it will burn for 50 hours. The label pokes fun at another vendor, stating the brand is “Back and Body Hurts”. It also states “Happy 80th Birthday!” and “Limited Edition – Fabulous – Thriving – Aged to Perfection”.No where on the box or jar does it say what the scent is. To me, it smells kind of like lemon grass, which is a scent that normally doesn’t bother my allergies, but this stops me up every time I smell it. That said, I do have to stick my nose down into the jar to smell it. The Amazon ad states the fragrance aroma essential oil is lavender and that the candle contains 5 percent essential oil. In all fairness, I have no idea what lavender smells like, because I am allergic to it, but according to the internet, lavender smells like “sweet floral aroma, with hints of citrus and woody notes”, so it is probably lavender scent.Overall, the Friectavy 80th Birthday Scented Candle is a cute novelty gift that is actually useful. I am not over the moon about the scent and wish they had gone with something more allergy friendly like vanilla. However, the Amazon ad state that the lavender scent is touted to improve mood, reduce stress, and anxiety, and they have added it to the candle for that purpose. Additionally, the jar is pretty small and the price point is about 4 times higher than it should be for a candle this size. But, you are not paying for a candle, you are paying for a birthday novelty item that happens to be a candle. So with that said, the price point is inline with similar items on the market. Five stars.
