This Pesalco Blackout Cordless Roller Shade for Indoor Windows functions smoothly while lowering and raising. It reminds me of the old roller shades I encountered years ago, except that the roll itself is a larger diameter and doesn’t seem cheap or flimsy. The shade material really does block light (a flashlight held directly on the other side doesn’t show through), but I haven’t found a way to prevent a little light from leaking in around the edges The valance is nice and sets it apart from cheaper rollers. Easy installation, with a clip mechanism that works great. The price seems high to me for a roller, but it’s a quality item that looks nice, installs easily, operates smoothly, and prevents light from penetrating through the shade itself. Priced against other kinds of window dressings, it’s not a bad value.

These were incredibly easy to install and just as easy to take down if needed. They use a clip system that locks the shade into place, and the design also lets you adjust the curtain slightly left or right if you need to fine tune the position based on your window sizing or where you want it to sit. That flexibility was a nice surprise.One thing that would make these better is a cord or cord hole to bring the shade down. We will be adding one ourselves since my partner lives with chronic pain and we got this to help her sleep in when she has rough nights. She mentioned that getting it to roll up is a little tough. It takes some patience, and a cord would make a big difference.The shade itself feels a lot like a projection screen, which makes sense because it is probably a very similar mechanism. I do not feel like it is a true 100 percent blackout, but it is hard to say for sure since in our setup it does not cover the entire window frame. That said, we were not looking for a full blackout effect, just enough to dim the room, and for that it works well.Overall, it does what we needed, but a few small improvements would make it more accessible and easier to use.
