6 reviews for BDF NA20 Window Film Daytime Privacy and Sun Control Natural Black 20 (Dark) – 36in X 12ft

I got the BDF NA20 for a large window in my house that faces the street and it’s the perfect tint! It’s crystal clear looking through but still dark enough to provide enough privacy and heat reduction. I read reviews about it creasing so I handled it delicately and painters tape to hold it up while I positioned it, thoroughly soaked it with water from a spray bottle on both the window and film, and pulled off the backing. Make sure the window and the frame are perfectly clean because once it’s on and drying it sticks hard, and trying to peel it back will damage it, so try to make sure there are no hairs, dust, or particles, as it’s definitely static cling and will grab those things. Followed the directions and it’ll come out perfect! I bought some prior to this that had horrible, murky visibility, but this stuff just looks like a window with added privacy and sun filtering. It works exactly as it should and for the price it was extremely worth it!

I thought this film was easy to work with and install. I have previously applied static film, which was probably a good choice for a practice run, so certainly not a pro but have a little experience at least that I think helped. A couple big things for installing, there’s no such thing as applying too much of the water/soap mix. The more you add, the better from what I have found. A big, big thing too is really make sure your window surfaces are clean. I clean them, then take a scraper lightly scrape off anything that didn’t come up with general cleaning. I use an air can to get any dirt out of the edges because the soap mix will drag any loose dirt hiding in there. As far as the looks, I really like it. I was a little worried it might make it look too dark outside from the inside, but not at all. It cuts down the light a bit, but not much and I actually like that it is a little dimmer. It’s perfectly clear to see out, no blurriness or anything like some other films can give. Big thing is you can’t really see in when you’re outside. I work from home with a window right on the sidewalk leading up to our front door, and hated when people would come up and if they glanced in as they passed, they could see me, so I felt awkward not answering because they knew I was in there haha. With this on, you have to get right up to the window and peek in to see, so someone just walking past can’t see anymore. Obviously at night when the light is on, that’s a different story, they can see in just fine, but I never could figure out why people expect that to be any different and complain about it.As far as heat reduction, I would say there’s very little if anything, so that was disappointing. I live in Arizona and the morning sun beats in on the room I work from. By 10am it’s a hotbox in there, and this didn’t reduce it at all. With films that do cut down on heat, usually the window itself will be really hot, since it’s basically catching all the heat, but away from the window really won’t be. Not with this, I can feel the heat if I stand where the sun is coming in even a few feet away from the window, so I don’t think it knocks it down at all. But, I got it more for the privacy, and that I am happy with. And satisfied with the ease of installation.

Put this on lanai sliding doors to the pool. Works great at keeping out the Florida heat. Fairly easy to install. Does take a little time to get the bubbles out. Some were still there in evening and gone by morning so don’t get discouraged quickly while putting it on. Also helps block view from looking inside if you are out. Definitely recommend.

I love that people can’t see inside my apartment, and help with the summer heat too. It was easy to install

The film goes on great and is easy to remove if needed. It needs to be really wet to avoid bubbles and creasing, but it’s possible to get it perfect. It makes the house cooler and you can’t see in during the day. At night if the lights are on the effect is reversed though.

I want to add to this comment. My fault 100% after reading more it does explain the correct tint for double pane windows.this company allowed me to return the unused portion for full refund and since then I have ordered the correct tint .THANK YOU BDF!Unless you have single pane windows don’t use this product! Not sure why that wasn’t the first thing said about product!Been a long time since I seen single pane windows in a house!.About as long as it’s been since I glazed a window!
